Lauren Charnock, Account Manager
Could you explain more about what your role entails?
As an account manager at Hera Beauty, I'm the main point of contact for many of our partners. I support them to manage their current product ranges as well as any new launches. I make sure everything runs smoothly, and act as a bridge between our partners and the wider manufacturing team. I ensure their vision is communicated clearly, that all timelines are achievable, and that any potential issues are addressed quickly and effectively. My ultimate aim is to ensure the product development journey is as smooth and stress-free as possible.
What attracted you to working with Hera Beauty?
I've always been interested in skincare. When I was growing up, I would watch different TikToks, YouTube, and beauty tutorials. So when this role came up, it sounded completely up my street and like a great opportunity to become part of an industry I've always been enthusiastic about. I’ve never looked back!
I joined Hera Beauty straight from university. I’d just completed my psychology degree, so it's definitely not the most traditional route into beauty! But the skills I developed during my course (such as understanding people, different forms of communication, and various research techniques) have all proved useful. I started as a sales operations coordinator around three years ago, and then moved into account management.
What makes you successful within your role?
I would say I'm naturally an organised and friendly person. I love getting to know my clients as well as the internal Hera Beauty team. I'm also a problem solver. So, all of these are handy qualities when it comes to juggling multiple projects and timelines. That mix of approachability and an attention to detail definitely helps clients feel confident and supported every step of the way.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Every day is a little bit different. But most of the time I start with catching up on emails, then checking in with our production, development, and chemistry teams. Often I'm putting quotes together, updating clients on their order progress, or helping processes to run smoothly. I love attending trade shows; such as Spring Fair, Top Drawer, and Cosmoprof in Italy. I meet some of our clients at these events and enjoy catching up over a coffee.
What’s your favourite bit about what you do?
For me, it’s definitely about building relationships with our partners. It’s so rewarding when a concept we’ve worked on together from the very beginning launches on the shelves of beauty stores. That's an amazing feeling! And I love the fact that no two days are the same - there are always different, exciting things going on.
What would you like to achieve out of your role?
I would like to continue building strong relationships with our clients and developing further knowledge on the industry. It’s simply the best feeling when our partners say they trust and rely on me. I want to continue to be a part of a team creating innovative products and seeing our partner brands thrive.
What are Hera Beauty’s strengths as a personal care manufacturer?
We're incredibly flexible and partner-focused. So whether we’re working with a small independent brand or maybe a more established name, we will tailor our approach to suit their needs. Our in-house teams are experienced and collaborative, so we will always personalise our approaches to meet specific requirements and create formulations that we can all be immensely proud about.
How do you see the UK’s beauty industry evolving?
There's definitely been a continual rise in conscious ingredient-led beauty; with a massive focus on sustainability, transparency, and what AI can bring to the industry. It's basically about making sure everything is extremely transparent for the consumer. And it looks like personalisation is going to be an incredibly important factor as well. It's a really innovative time to be part of the beauty industry because there are so many rapid changes.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do?
My life outside of work is extremely busy at the moment! I moved house just a couple of months ago, so my weekends are currently spent doing DIY projects and home renovations. I've also got two young and very energetic spaniels who are always keeping me on my toes. So it’s a bit chaotic at the moment, but always super fun!
